Tibetan Support Committee Fundraiser
Greenheart would like to thank everyone who participated in the benefit dinner and music extravaganza in favour of the ONG, el Comité de Apoyo al Tíbet, the Support Committee for Tibet (CAT).

Founded almost 20 years ago, the Support Committee works in a variety of areas benefitting the people of Tibet. Here in Ibiza, the CAT is present every Sunday open day at our eco centre, and on this occasion is teamed up with Greenheart at Casita Verde to welcome friends and supporters with a candle-lit dinner, a showing of a short film about the CAT's work in Tibet, the presentation of CAT's new music CD, together with speeches, music (courtesy of DJ Swann and ELEA, one of the groups participating in the CAT CD) and performances by Pentakis and Duo.
What is the CAT?
The Comité de Apoyo al Tíbet, also known as CAT, is a non-profit-making organisation dedicated to supporting in every way possible the Tibetan people and their culture. A culture - based on spirituality, non-violence and human values that are beginning to disappear in the West and that is in serious danger of extinction as a result of the cumulative effects of the genocide and brutal repression of basic human rights that it has endured since the Chinese occupation 57 years ago.
Why Tibet?
Tibetan culture has contributed enormously to the West, offering us its marvellous and delicate art, its solid Buddhist philosophy and ethics, its exemplary behaviour of peaceful resistance, and its traditional music and medicine that are thousands of years old. But, above all, its joy and understanding of the interrelation of all things. The Ibiza that we love has a conscious and unconscious affinity with Buddhist philosophy, respect for religious and spiritual plurality, and a spontaneous solidarity with the Tibetan people, their culture and the Dalai Lama as a world ambassador for peace.
Why CAT Ibiza?
We should not forget that Ibiza was one of the first places where Tibetan Buddhism germinated in Spain and that a large part of the island's multicultural, spiritual and aesthetic atmosphere is already very familiar with and committed to Buddhism in general and the Tibetan cause in particular. Setting up CAT Ibiza, with its headquarters in the beautiful Bahía de San Antonio and thanks to many people like friends from Kumharas and Casita Verde, opened the door to a wide array of cultural opportunities for spreading information and increasing participation and solidarity throughout the island. Ibiza's great summer fiesta is already dangerously associated by many with alcohol and drugs. We would like the Tibetan cause to contribute culture, spirituality and solidarity to this paradise island all year round.
