Marigold
Marigold (Calendula spec., Asteraceae)
Ibicencan: boixac
French: souci
Dutch: goudsbloem
The field marigold (Calendula arvensis; photo) grows in fields and uncultivated areas. In the Casita Verde it grows spontaneously. Although it has the same properties as the pot marigold (C. officinalis), it is not in common use for its medicinal properties.
A tea from the flowers has a spasmolytic effect and increases the bile production. Calendula cream is used to heal wounds, burns and eczemas. Recipe for cream.
