Earthrun 2009 with Greenheart Ibiza
On Sunday the 26th of April 2009 from 11am, there will be a fundraising local run/walk/cycle event, called EARTH RUN IBIZA 2009, taking place along the San Antonio bay. The event is open to all members of the island community.

Running for the world and the green heart of Ibiza
Ibiza's first ever Earth Run will get a spectacular send-off on Sunday April 26th at 11 am as adults,children,artists, musicians and yoga teachers join together for a salutation to the sun at Playa de Es Pouet, San Antonio, Ibiza.
At their signal hundreds of participants will walk, run, cycle, skate or dance the five kilometres route until the finish line in the Passeig de Ses Fonts in the centre of San Antonio.
The whole event is intended to be great fun for everybody on the island. There'll be healthy organic food, massages, great entertainment and special activities for children. But there's a serious message behind the Earth Run. It shows the need to bring people together to build green communities and a sustainable future.
In a practical way the run will help to create a better future by raising money for Ibiza's Greenheart Resonancia. This eco-edutainment project last year helped show 300 of the island's schoolchildren how we as humans fit into the ecological system and how we can find solutions to the huge problems we now face.
“We look to the next generation as our hope for the future. It will be through education and involvement that our children will have the tools and understanding to help build a better world for us all,” says Greenheart's Chris Dews
Participants are asked to get friends, family and neighbours to sponsor them so that every step of the run will help make a more healthy planet. You can register for Earth Run and download sponsorship forms from www.earthrun.es.
But even before the run has started it has proved a success at showing how Ibiza's residents and politicians can unite for the sake of our environment. The island's council and the municipalities of San Josep and Sant Antoni, where the run takes place, have come together to give their full backing to the event.
More important is the huge army of volunteers who are coming forward to show their support for the beautiful environment of Ibiza and the planet. As ever, there's always a need for more people to help. That means you.
The Earth Run needs volunteers for registration, entertainment and to help with the clean up afterwards. There's something for everybody to do. And it'll be fun.
