Earth Day 2007 at Casita Verde
Together with all the hundreds of millions of people celebrating this event throughout the world, Casita Verde became a meeting point for international environmental consciousness this Sunday 22nd of April, International Earth Day.
And at Casita Verde, the "green machine" was in full swing for it! A number of new areas and features were ready for the crowd to enjoy, while old-time volunteers and friends flocked to make this day even more special.
Greenheart now has a wider spectrum of services and items on offer, such as Carob syrup products, colloidal silver, mooncups, artesan artwork, free ads in local press, space for local NGOs - The Tibetan Support Committee - CAT, for example.
We kick-started the new Info Centre area and a new space for Natural Health as well as demonstrating to everyone how another way of living is both possible and enjoyable for all, resulting in other pieces of the plan being set in their place for future development...
Casita Verde had planned a deliciously varied musical and performance programme, which was added to by spontaneous outbursts of creativity from the Earth Day celebrators...With live music and shows happening one after the other on the three stages available, participants enjoyed a succession of memorable moments. Many thanks go to Summer, Aigu, Nora, Manolo, Mati and family, Mario & Maria, Zorah and her dancers, Rafa, Bruce, Glenn's fabulous rock&roll band and, last but not least, percussion ace, Sha’s masterful drum circle in the setting sun! All of them soundly assisted by Ingmar and Murray.
Earth Day yet again turned out to be a storming success thanks to the participation and mass effort of the Casita team. Many thanks for their cheerful hard work go to Mike, Ana D and Ana S, Roland, Sultan, Fiona, Vera, Steffi and the gang... and Chris the Captain. Special congrats to Danny for his last few weeks of wizardry with the tools and the brain, thanks to which the Casita Verde was truly blooming & shining!
It has to be said that the directors and all the helpers had a wonderful time, as did all the smiling faces that came together to celebrate this joyous occasion.

What is Earth Day?
(From Wiki) Responding to wide spread environmental degradation, United States Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin called for an Environmental Teach-in or Earth Day to be held on April 22, 1970. Over 20 million people participated and it is now observed each year by more than 500 million people and national governments in 175 countries.
Earth Day 2007 Events
This year our partners, the CCI, flew the greenheart flag with a stand at the Chicago 2-day Green Festival, the first time this was held in the city.
In Ibiza town, there was the Amics de la Terra/GEN/GOB and Jean Michel celebration of Earth Day from the city centre Plaza del Parque.
