CCI 2007 Newsletter

Our partners, CCI (Centre for Cultural Interchange), have published their latest newsletter which features an article on one of the exchange students at casita verde. From the publication:

"These days, college student Rob Curran is making more of an effort to conserve energy. He’s turning lights off when he isn’t using them, turning the water off while brushing his teeth, and taking shorter, cooler showers.

Rob’s new awareness of energy conservation is the result of three weeks he spent on CCI’s Environmental Volunteer Program last June. The program, made possible through a
partnership with the Greenheart Initiative, sends volunteers to work at an ecological center called La Casita Verde on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

“I didn’t really think much about the environment before I went,” admits Rob. But his experience at Casita Verde “definitely changed my views,” he says. A working farm, La Casita Verde was founded by British expatriate Chris Dews to demonstrate that a lifestyle that minimizes harm to the environment is not only possible but desirable. The center supports Greenheart environmental research projects and education programs, and hosts volunteers and students who come from all over the world to learn about new innovations in sustainable ecological development."
