Earthdance Event

The long awaited Earthdance project reached its final destination last Saturday the 26th of September, when around three hundred people passed by in Casita Verde to participate in what I can only describe as a lovely 'happening'.

Apart from our usual local products juice bar, there was lots of delicious food from a variety of sources, including Abre tu Sesamo with some tasty pizzas, Javier the spiritual chef with his beautiful raw food selection, Jahida with her middle eastern delicacies and of course the Casita Verde home team with some of our famous Greenheart veggie burgers and a healthy curry, supported by loads of our yummy carob brownies.
We had Doris the clown together with Cyd Lee dressed in very colourful attire, painting the children's faces, plus Amanda and her team doing a leaf painting workshop for the peace tree presentation. There were several great live musical and dancing performances, and an excellent assortment of DJ spots throughout the event, including some of the famous islanders and their trendy music. There was a huge hot air balloon giving rides up and down for a couple of hours, dancing workshops, massages and chanting sessions, chill-out and meditation groups, plus generally lots and lots of human enjoyment going on until the sun finally went down and left us all in the dark.
After an afternoon full of good company and entertainment, healthy food and drinks as well as great music, the people left happy and smiling, also hopefully with an extra special thought for greater Peace on our troubled planet.

Later on the party continued into the early morning at the Privilege discotheque in nearby San Rafael, but I'd already done my energy allowance during the long day, so decided to take a little break and stay at home with a few other tired individuals, and let the younger ones do it all for us.
After literally months of dedicated preparation from the 'Follow your heart productions team' (Jonny Lee, Caspian, Marcin, Lara, Ian and many other collaborators), the original venue at Bazaar near to Santa Gertrudis, suddenly became unavailable for the event, momentarily throwing the whole scene into a downwards spin. Fortunately, the core team managed to keep up the flow of energy and began desperately to find another option. When it seemed clear that all other possibilities were out of range, we offered our little Casita Verde venue for the day time event and negotiations were set in motion to run the night time party at the Privilege disco, renowned to be the largest night club in the world.

Here I understand things went a little bit strange with the technical set-up, when after a great start with a fabulous live music performance, the film show stopped playing half way through and the 'prayer for peace' Cd didn't want to play. However, the team made it through to the end of the program and despite all the mishaps along the way, were content with the final result which raised 1.500 Euros to be divided between three childrens charities (the Special needs group from Ibiza - Apneef, The Childs rights foundation making an orphanage project in India and our own Greenheart Resonancia environmental education programme, now running for several years here on the island).

There was a special music CD made to commemorate the event (this can be bought at Casita Verde on Sundays) and between us, we got lots of very nice photos and film for the promotion of next years Earthdance project, which will of course be done using all the experience of this first attempt.

I was not the main player in this party, buton behalf of Ibiza ecologic, I would still like to thank everyone who participated in organising and setting up the project, plus all those who came along to enjoy the event. We hope to see you all again at our next fund raising bash, whenever that may be!
